With a new term just around the corner, we wanted to make sure that you have the latest information.
OSM How To Videos
We are getting ready for our return to Scouting in September and we want to make sure that you have all of the information for what’s going on.
We’ve just published 5 short how-to videos for Online Scout Manager. You can find them on our YouTube Channel:
Please take some time to have a watch through all of them and familiarise yourself with them.
We will be moving away from direct bank transfer payments in September and will collect all payments via OSM.
This is explained in the last video.
In order to keep Payments simple we have broken the year into 3 blocks of 4 months:
- 1st January to 30th April
- 1st May to 31st August
- 1st September to 31st December
Each 4-month block is charged at £43. This term payment will be due by the end of the first month of the block.
If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch.

Last Thursday we took the cubs to the forest for a water fight and a chance to finish off the last bit of their scientists badge by launching some water rockets!

Following the announcement of a four-week lockdown in England from Thursday 5 November, the National Youth Agency (NYA) has now issued guidance about what this means for all youth sector activity. From tomorrow, Scouts and all other youth activities will move to Red readiness level.
This decision by the Government means that there can be no face-to-face activity with young people or adult volunteers. Only online meetings can be delivered until further notice.
We expect these restrictions to last until 2 December, when the lockdown is currently scheduled to end in England.
Please look after yourselves and stay safe!

Yes that’s right. The 14th Walthamstow will be returning to face to face scouting in October. We have been working hard to ensure that this can be done in a safe manor and in compliance with the government guidelines.
We have sent out an information pack to all parents detailing how this is going to work. If anyone has not yet received this we urge you to get in touch with us ASAP.
Update on the Build!
As many of you know we have taken the opportunity in lock down to get some work done on the hall. We are now at a stage where the roof is going on! So its exciting times!
We have also done really well with our fundraiser! raising more than £1100. We are so close to our target now. We would really appreciate it if anyone can share it with their friends and family.
The Hall has always been a central part of the community and we are hoping to make it more accessable to future generations. Your donations will help us do the final fit out.

Despite lockdown, we have had fantastic engagement from you all over the past few months. Virtual Scouting, The Big Build, and our YouTube channel have all had massive things to celebrate.
So a massive Thank You to everyone who has helped support us and ensure that scouting continues.

On Monday we started the work to extend the front of our hall. We will be installing a brand new disability toilet & Shower room, better storage for our tables and chairs and a larger multi-purpose meeting room.
We are now looking for your help in raising money for the fixtures and fittings. We want to ensure that the new rooms are the best that they can be, to make them more usable and accessible to more people and the future generations of our group.
Anything you could spare to help us would be greatly appreciated!

We’re back with another in our mini-series 60 Second Scouting. In this episode, we show you how to make a catapult out of all those used lolly sticks.
You will need:
– 10 x Lolly Sticks (cleaned)
– Rubber Bands
– A Bottle Cap
– Blu Tack
– Ping Pong Balls (or paper balls)
Step By Step:
1) Group 7 sticks together with a band at each end.
2) Now group 2 sticks together in the same way.
3) Attach the last stick to the group of two, but this time only the one end.
4) Slide the group of 7 sticks down the middle of the three, and secure with more bands.
5) Add an extra band around the middle to ensure it doesn’t move.
6) Add a small ball of Blu Tack to the end of the single stick.
7) Press the bottle cap onto the Blu Tack and you’re finished!
