Virtual meetings to the rescue!

Posted on March 21st, 2020 by Sam Raby

It’s sad but its true! Scout meetings face to face have been suspended until further notice. But that isn’t going to stop us…. Oh No! We have taken to video conferencing to host our meetings and so far it has been successful.

We did a round the house scavenger hunt with our beavers.

We met with the cubs and did a Q&A session on the Emergency First Aid badge.

And we took to https://skribbl.io/ with the scouts.

Don’t forget there is loads you can do at home. Simply log into OSM and have a look at your badges. You can upload your evidence right there as well. Check out our how to video:

We have also put some workbooks online for you to have a look at:

Toasty hands on a cold night!

Posted on February 21st, 2019 by Dani Marney

The Scouts tried their hand at a bit of sewing and made some lovely hand warmers. We will be finishing them off next week and will post the pdf here if anyone wants to have a go at home! We even had some chocolates to share round as we said goodbye to one of Scouts moving to Scotland. We wish her all the best in the future! #iscout #jointheadventure #skillsforlife

The Scouts have been busy at the RAF Museum. We’ve learnt how planes fly, their uses through the ages and the wars, and even managed a spot of McDonald’s for lunch! Everyone has also gained their Stage 3 Ai\nr Activity Badge! Even the leaders got involved in dressing up! A very fun day!

The 14th are at the Panto!….” Oh no they’re not!”

Posted on January 5th, 2019 by Sam Raby

Tonight more than 60 members, leaders, parents and friends, piled onto a bus and made their way to the Kenneth Moore Theatre to enjoy this year’s panto, Aladdin.

The group thoroughly enjoyed themselves, especially our oldest leader, Bob, who found himself overwhelmed with audience participation.

We would like to thank all of the staff, performers and crew at the Kenneth Moore Theatre for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. They even mentioned and thanked the leaders for organising such a large group.

Scouts “Catch a Bus” through history

Posted on June 11th, 2018 by Sam Raby

The Scouts took a guided tour around the Depot Museum to see some a small sample of the Buses, Trams and Trains that were used within London to transport passengers around and to test out some of the carriages seating.  It was very informative and exciting.  After a quick pit stop at Covent Garden for lunch. They then moved onto the London transport Museum, to learn how the transport evolved as London grew.  Finally on the way home via Liverpool street, the Troop stopped for a well deserved Ice cream before heading Home.

Centenary Camp @ Downe Scout Adventures!

Posted on September 7th, 2017 by Sam Raby

14th Walthamstow – Centenary Camp @ Downe Scout Adventures

This year marks the 100th year of the group. From 1917 to 2017 we have been giving young people the opportunity to gain key life skills, to try new things, to learn something new and much more.

To celibate, we took the group to Downe Scout adventures in Kent for the bank holiday weekend.

The group had a fantastic time and took part in, Crate Stacking, Archery & Grass Sledging,

The group also did a bit of DIY and took home there very own bird boxes! find out more about that in the coming months.

The Beavers came up for the main part of the weekend, and with the gang all there we took a trip down into Chislehurst Caves!

To top off the sunny bank holiday monday, the cubs and scouts took part in the classic camp water fight.

Personally….. what better way to mark your 100th year! Check out what the group got up to below.
