Dear Parents/Carers,
We have been asked by The Scout Association HQ to Suspend all scouting meetings as of Tuesday the 17th of March, until further notice. This comes after the government’s announcement today to reduce and avoid all un necessary travel and meetings.
Meeting Subs
In order to cover the annual membership fee, we often ask for £1.50 for every meeting that you are unable to attend. We would still look to collect this for the weeks whereby we are unable to meet. This would be collected upon return to normal activity.
What about Events?
The Scout Association has informed us that all large events have also been suspended.
Beavers – Beavers Sleepover
Cubs – Fundays 2020 has been canceled. Mud Run 2020 has been postponed.. CAT202 Camp in May we do not yet know about it.
Scouts – currently no upcoming events
ALL – Group camp Planned for September may also be in Jeopardy.
NB: We will confirm what happens with refunds as more information develops.
What happens next?
As we have always said, Scouting is more than just a meeting at the hall, Scouting is part of everyday life. Simply because we are unable to meet, doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the activities scouting has to offer.
Below are links to a set of workbooks for each section, these include badge information, activates and tasks that you can work on at home in your spare time.

Scouting Via Video Chat
We are considering using an online meeting tool, as other scout groups are also doing, to host shorter video-based meetings at the same time as our regular meetings.
We are looking into using https://zoom.us/ A free meeting tool that allows you to join without an account, from most devices (PC, Mac, iOS, Android)
These meetings would be no longer than around 30mins. We would suggest that you as a parent are present or in the vicinity of your child during these call’s
More than one leader would be present at each meeting as is the case with any regular meeting.
During these meetings, we would cover questions and queries around the attached activity workbooks and any other questions and badge related activities.
More information on this will be available if we decide to go forward with it
Government advice
The Government’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) webpage is frequently updated as things develop, so please check it regularly at www.gov.uk/coronavirus.
Going Forward
Please ensure that you all take the necessary precautions and take note of advice given by the government and the NHS. Please continue to ensure you are washing your hands regularly.
We as leaders have been regularly cleaning, disinfecting the hall and regularly touched surfaces to minimize the risk.
Should you have any questions or queries, please contact us via email or the dedicated WhatsApp groups.
We will continue to keep you updated as information develops.
Stay safe & Stay Healthy.
Yours in Scouting

With all this sun, we decided to get the beavers out of the hall. So we hit the local park!
Check out how the group got on at the sleepover!
On Saturday We’ve made pizza’s, Toasted Marshmallows, had our campfire, ate hotdogs and watched a movie.
On Sunday we had a nice big breakfast, made our packed lunches and headed to Hollow Ponds for an afternoon picnic and some outdoor games. We headed back to the hall and made Bug Hotel’s out of our water bottle and Fruit Peel, before packing up to go home! Additional Photo Credits go to one of our Cubs who shot the majority of Sunday’s photos!

Tonight more than 60 members, leaders, parents and friends, piled onto a bus and made their way to the Kenneth Moore Theatre to enjoy this year’s panto, Aladdin.
The group thoroughly enjoyed themselves, especially our oldest leader, Bob, who found himself overwhelmed with audience participation.
We would like to thank all of the staff, performers and crew at the Kenneth Moore Theatre for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. They even mentioned and thanked the leaders for organising such a large group.
