Beavers Section

Looking Back

  • At the start of the Year, it was sad to say goodbye to our 6 Beavers that moved onto Cubs.
  • We have also welcomed 5 new members to the Colony.
  • We have also organised a Sleepover at our Hall, which was attended by 19 Beavers sleeping over, and 1 joining us on the Sunday. We then went on a Litter Pick at the Greenway Avenue Community Garden and Nature Reserve. This we did after each Beaver had made their own packed lunch. This they put in a numbered Backpack, which became theirs to keep
  • This earnt the Beavers at least 50 Badges, with 1 Beaver attaining his Chief Scout Bronze.

Looking Ahead

  • Going forward we are hoping to organise another Sleepover (Maybe at a Campsite for 2 nights, as we were asked by 1 Beaver “why couldn’t it be a week”) not sure of the dates yet.
  • The Beavers also want to do another “Beavers Got Talent”. Maybe over 2 nights. Then maybe invite Parents to come and watch.
  • We are also planning a few evenings outside to put the “Out” in Scouting as per Paul’s request. This will hopefully earn more badges, and maybe more Chief Scout Bronzes.

Spring Term Report

  • The Scouts started of the year with a trip to Chigwell Row Campsite (Chigwell) where they under took has an engaging Knife skills session, learned about Orienteering and had a stroll around the local trails.
  • They have been working hard learning about different cultures and working towards the international Activity Badge.
  • To round the term out the scouts ventured onto the Ice at Lee Valley for a session of Ice Skating. This was enjoyed very much by all.

Looking Ahead

  • We have an active program planned for the Summer Term, with a particular to put the ‘out’ back into Scouting.
  • Were starting this of with a camp to Tolmers (Cufley) followed by District Scout Section Survival Camp in May at Danemead Campsite and finishing off with our joint summer camp to Bournemouth with the explorers in August.
  • On a Friday Night we have plans to finish and plan the planters around the hall, try our hands at athletics and orienteering to name a few of the activities.
